St. Thomas announces leadership change for women's hockey; Johnson resigns, Brausen named interim head coach

The University of St. Thomas announced leadership changes to the Tommies Women's Hockey program yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, November 20).  Notably, Joel Johnson has submitted his resignation as head coach of the team.  St. Thomas was 28-88-4 in three-plus seasons with Johnson in charge, though he missed parts of his first season (2021-2022) while he was head coach of the U.S. Olympic team.  The Tommies have a 5-8-1 overall record and 2-7-1 mark in WCHA play so far this year.

UST assistant coach (and Golden Gopher alumna) Bethany Brausen has been named interim head coach of the team, taking over as they head to Madison for a league series against #1 Wisconsin.

The Gophers will face the Tommies for the first time in 2024-2025 on December 6 & 7 at the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights.
