Gopher Women's Hockey and head coach Brad Frost announced Friday that defender Lizi Norton will join the team as a graduate transfer for the 2022-2023 season. The left-handed Norton is a native of Orono, MN, recording 32 points on 6 goals and 26 assists with the UMD Bulldogs in her collegiate career to-date.

Norton will be the fifth new member of the Gophers this fall, joining incoming freshmen Josefin Bouveng, Allie Franco, Madison Kaiser and Nelli Laitinen; she also becomes the team's ninth fifth-year skater for the upcoming season. She has also received multiple honors for her classroom work, being a three-time WCHA Scholar Athlete and WCHA All-Academic Team honoree.

2022 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Women's Face-Off Classic featuring Gophers, SCSU added to schedule in November

The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum announced last Thursday that the Gopher Women's Hockey team will participate in the 2022 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women's Face-Off Classic, facing St. Cloud State at the Andover Community Center on Monday, November 7, at 7 p.m. CST.

As noted in the press release, Minnesota will be looking to defend its Hall of Fame Face-Off Classic victory from last season, a 5-1 result over the Huskies. The upcoming contest is additional to the previously-announced four WCHA meetings planned between the two squads in 2022-2023; while it will count in the overall regular-season standings, it will be treated as a non-conference game. More event details and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

The Gophers' schedule of conference games (plus the HOF Face-Off Classic) can be found here. The announcement of other non-conference contests is expected soon.
