We also provide a reminder that you can still join the Power Play Club at the basic membership tier, which includes up to two adults and any children at same address, with a minimum donation of $50. Online registration is preferred at z.umn.edu/PPC22; click the "Make A Gift" button on that page and follow the instructions. To register offline, download the form here and send it in to the listed address, with a check payable to the "University of Minnesota".
Goals for a Goal 2022-2023: Make Your Pledge Today!
The Power Play Club and the Golden Gopher Fund invite you to pledge your support to Gopher Women’s Hockey. Pledge a dollar amount for every goal the Gophers score during the regular season and postseason. You can also choose to double your pledge for power play goals. Your donation will help fund updates and improvements to Ridder Arena, such as the new GWH Olympian display.
In their first two official games of the 2022-2023 season, the Gophers tallied 10 goals, with two of those coming on the power play.
To make a pledge, fill out this online form (preferred) or download the PDF version, print it, and mail it in to the listed address. After the postseason, you will receive an email with your pledge total and giving instructions. All contributions are tax-deductible donations to the Golden Gopher Fund.

Ostertag named 2022-'23 Power Play Club Scholarship recipient;
Heise honored as Patty Berg Legacy Scholar Athlete
Gopher Women's Hockey co-captain and fifth-year defender Gracie Ostertag was named the recipient of the Power Play Club Scholarship for a third-consecutive year, as announced at the Golden Gopher Fund Scholarship Banquet held last Wednesday, October 5. The Shakopee native is majoring in Business and Marketing Education. Congratulations, Gracie!!
Fellow co-captain and fifth-year player Taylor Heise was recognized as the 2022 Patty Berg Legacy Scholar Athlete honoree, recognizing a female athlete's excellence in their sport, in the classroom, and in the community. Heise becomes the third GWH player to receive the award, joining Anne Schleper (2011) and Lee Stecklein (2016). She is pictured below with U. of M. Athletics Director Mark Coyle. Congratulations, Taylor!!
We also send broader congratulations to the other endowed scholarship recipients among the Gopher Women's Hockey team and all of Univ. of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics.
Five GWH alumnae in PWHPA action this weekend in Montréal
As noted two weeks ago, seven alumnae of the Gopher Women's Hockey program were named to the rosters of Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) teams for the 2022-2023 Secret© Dream Gap Tour. Five of them have been further identified as active for this coming weekend's first stop of the tour in Montréal, Quebec: Hannah Brandt (Team Sonnet), Emily Brown (Team Sonnet), Kelly Pannek (Team Scotiabank), Sarah Potomak (Team adidas), and Lee Stecklein (Team Harvey's). All four games of this weekend's event will be streamed on cbcsports.ca, with action starting at Saturday (Oct. 15) at 12:30 p.m. CT (game schedule here).
Third Secret© Dream Gap Tour location & dates announced – Following this weekend's stop in Montréal and the PWHPA's second event in Truro, Nova Scotia on November 4-6, the organization announced that Pittsburgh will host the third Dream Gap Tour stop November 25-27. As noted in the press release, “the event will consist of a total of four games – to be played at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex – as well as community events, including two girls hockey clinics.”
Fourth USA-Canada Rivalry Series game set for December 15
On the national team front, USA Hockey announced a fourth game of the 2022-2023 Rivalry Series against Canada, the second being played south of the border, scheduled for Thursday, December 15 at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada. The series begins in British Columbia with games on November 15 in Kelowna and November 17 in Kamloops, then moves to Seattle, WA, for the third meeting on November 20. Tickets are now on sale for all four contests; visit the Rivalry Series pages on HockeyCanada.ca and USAHockey.com for the games in their respective countries.
