2016-2017 Gopher Women's Hockey captain Lee Stecklein and two-time NCAA 3-meter diving champion Yu Zhou have been nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year.  The award, which began in 1991, recognizes graduating athletes who excel in the four pillars of academics, athletics, service and leadership.

We send our congratulations to both athletes for this wonderful recognition. More information on both can be found in the June 27 press release from the U., and the full list of the record 543 nominees can be found on here.

Conferences will select up to two conference nominees each from the pool of their schools' nominees.  The Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will then choose the top 30 honorees — 10 from each division.  From the top 30, the selection committee determines the top three honorees from each division and announces the nine finalists in September.  The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics then chooses the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year from those nine, with the winner announced on October 22.
