GWH associate head coach Joel Johnson was named the head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team for the fourth-consecutive season, as USA Hockey announced his appointment for 2017-2018 on Wednesday, June 14.

Johnson has served as the head coach of the U-18 squad since the summer of 2014, leading the team to gold medals at the IIHF Women's Under-18 World Championship in 2015, 2016, and 2017.  His duties for the 2017-2018 season begin this coming weekend at a camp at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine.  The 2017 Women's Under-18 Team will play in a three-game series against Canada in Lake Placid, New York, from August 17-20.

Kennedy join USA U-18 coaching staff – Another person with Gopher Women's Hockey ties – Minnesota alumna and current Boston College associate head coach Courtney Kennedy – will join the U.S. Women's National Under-18 staff as assistant coach.  Minnesota Duluth head coach Maura Crowell was named as the national team's associate head coach.
