Following the completion of the 2017 IIHF Women's World Championship, both USA Hockey and Hockey Canada announced upcoming camps with current, future, and alumni members of the Minnesota Women's Hockey program invited to both.
Eight Gophers invited to USA Hockey camp – 2016-17 Gophers Dani Cameranesi, Kelly Pannek, and Lee Stecklein join 2017-18 incoming freshman Grace Zumwinkle and University of Minnesota alumni Megan Bozek ('13), Hannah Brandt ('16), Amanda Kessel ('16), and Gigi Marvin ('09) among 42 invitees to the upcoming U.S. Women's National Team Selection Camp.
The camp is scheduled for Sunday, April 30 through Thursday, May 4 at Florida Hospital Center Ice in Tampa, FL. It will be used to determine the roster for the centralized 2017-18 U.S. Women's National Team that will train together and participate in various competitions in the build-up to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea; that roster will be unveiled by USA Hockey at the conclusion of the camp on Friday, May 5.
Agnew invited to Canadian strength & conditioning camp – Gopher freshman forward Lindsay Agnew was named as one of 83 invitees to Canada's National Women’s Program strength and conditioning camp, taking place May 3-7 in Hamilton, Ontario. Of the 80 players able to attend, 30 – including Agnew – are from the Canadian Development Team and the other 50 are from Canada's Under-18 program.
The focus of the camp will be entirely on off-ice sessions, which include dryland training, fitness-testing, and physical and mental preparation. The camp represents the initial step in the selection process for both groups of players for the 2017-18 season.
We congratulate all nine GWH players on their selections!
